I’m so glad you’re here!
My name is Magdi Hegyi.
I studied ceramics in high school and animation at MOME. After university, I directed the animated series Children’s Songs. For a few years I worked in game development, and since then I have mostly been working as a freelancer. Alongside my “official” projects, my own personal work has always played an important role in my life. I have written stories, held a solo exhibition of my paintings, animated, drawn, worked with felt, and created ceramics.
The birth of my first son inspired my project Space Cucumbers, which resulted in a children’s book and the first episode of an animated series.
Space Cucumbers is one of my favorite worlds to immerse myself in – it provides protection, love, and joy, and its helpful characters can be very beneficial for children. After my son was born, I realized that I wanted to dedicate myself to something that serves others, something meaningful, with deep messages and real value.
As my little boy grew, unexpected challenges entered our lives. To help him, I began creating daily routine cards. I discovered that they worked: his rigidity became manageable, and this had a positive impact on our family life. I wanted to share this experience with others, and that is how the idea for Sunnycards – Daily Routine Cards was born.
Two of my ongoing projects are The Tales of Leona and Nikolas and the stories of Manyi Kökény, everyone’s grandmother, which I continue to develop to this day. I have many plans for the future, and I feel fortunate to be able to practice so many different forms of self-expression.
I love painting, drawing, felting, working with clay, and creating. To bring something good and beautiful into existence that can give joy, love, and support to others is deeply fulfilling. I believe that creating is a privilege of being human, and something to be cherished. I believe that goodness resides in all of us. With the will to search, we can discover this true self. Humanity and the quality of our relationships guide us on this journey… and this journey leads inward.
